The First Two Weeks of School

For the next two weeks, our library staff will be busy preparing to serve our students.  Huntsville City Schools' library media specialists have been tasked with cataloging and checking out student laptops and iPads.  I am very excited about our new one-to-one program and am working to get the appropriate hardware out to your student.  Additionally, I will be working to roster new students into the Pearson Learnings online program.  Our library staff will also work to provide each Providence student with their library ID (for PK and K), their library folder (for 1st through 5th grades), and their library card (for 8th grade).  This involves printing barcodes for each student and attaching them to the appropriate vehicle, so students can check library books out in an efficient manner.  Our goal is that student check out will begin September 4th.  In the meantime, teachers will be able to check out class sets of books for your student's use.  We are very much looking forward to seeing your student in our library media center!

Library Media Center Blog

Welcome to the Providence School Library Media Center blog.  The purpose of this blog is to inform students, teachers, and parents of upcoming events and lessons taking place in our library media center.  As library media specialist, I would love to hear from each of you regarding our library program.

Did you know our library media provides online access to all the books in our library?  Accessing the library's online patron access catalog (OPAC) is possible anywhere you have internet access:  school, home, even on your mobile phone!  To access the catalog, go to the Huntsville City Schools' website and click on the green Student tab.  Look for the link labeled Atriuum Students.  Next, select Providence School from the OPAC list.  The online catalog should open automatically.
